Thanks to one of my favorite sites, No Film School, I found another inspiring video that just rings what I want the SLR to be: a place to try new things.

  • First, just check out No Film School. This next post cycle I'm going to be sharing more of their stuff because it's just so rich for filmmakers and creatives alike.
  • And I love this video because you probably have seen a video featured in it. It's a great reminder that executing on an idea can just create good content, even if it's brief and one simple idea.
    • Kinda like what I'm doing with this Fresh Produce section. =)

Dear Europe is a collaborative video about the upcoming European elections and how lessons gleaned from Brexit and Trump, might relate. The piece was made by artists who call the US and the UK home. Turn on closed captions for French, Dutch and German and Italian! Our hope was to impress upon our friends in Europe that the future is written by those who vote. http://dearEU.com DIRECTOR Erica Gorochow ARTISTS (IN ORDER OF APPEARANCE) Alexandra Lund Allen Laseter Marie-Margaux Tsakiri-Scanatovits Pablo Lozano Johnny Kelly (Design) Terra Henderson Kyle Strope Ege Soyuer Nick Petley Joe Donaldson Jay Quercia Brian Gossett (Design) Louis Wesolowsky (Animation) Freddy Arenas Thea Glad Lana Simanenkova Yukai Du Miguel Jiron Bee Grandinetti Damien Correll (Design) Adam Grabowski (Animation) Robin Davey MUSIC + SOUND DESIGN Upright T-Rex Music SCRIPT Erica Gorochow ENGLISH VO KK Apple Jordan Craig GERMAN Saskia Keultjes (VO) DUTCH Wouter Boon (VO) Martin Pyper FRENCH Julie Saunders (VO) Adrien Joulie THANKS Liz Marks Lorenzo Fernandez Gustav Vella Jeroen Krielaars Bee Grandinetti Joe Donaldson Paul Murphy Ross Wariner Cody Uhler
  • After my Supporting Women's Rights post last week I said that living in DC that "protesting has been unavoidable," and it's cool to see a calm and calculated observation about voting and the effects it's had on our society and what it can have on other European Countries.
  • The paper animation style not only feels like a leader, but shows that this message could be taken as a note. A message. A warning.

WALLS THAT ONCE HOUSED NOISE | LIVING PORTRAITS OF DEAD MUSIC VENUES Loud Places captures three iconic venues in their current state - venturing inside a restaurant, a gym and a vaudeville theatre to explore the addresses that were once home to live music. Bringing together the performers, promoters and audience members that once made these places their sonic homes, we seek to reawaken the walls that once housed noise across London, Paris and Berlin. Originally premiered via Nowness, this extended cut was nominated for the Best Documentary Short Film award at the London Short Film Festival. Directed by Mathy & Fran Executive Producer: Jamie Clark Producers: Jennifer Corcoran, Chanse Fyffe Director of Photography: Jonas Mortensen Art Director: Penny Mills Composer: Guy Fixsen Colourist: Jack McGinity
  • I'm always fascinated by places and a sense of place in general. I find places very difficult to describe. This video does it seamlessly describing 3 separate places that used to be one. I get tingles all over my arms watching this.
